Career Experience and Accomplishments
Wholesale Provided guidance and stability for a $90M pet food company during the pet food recall of 2007. Brought in as part-time Controller/CFO within days after the first recall and managed the department for fifteen months until an equity partner was brought in with $20M in capital and their own financial team. During this time, I was responsible for daily sales reporting, overseeing the accounting system, providing annual sales forecasting, full analysis of losses to the insurance company and suppliers, and interface with outside auditors for various bank audits of the credit line and equity investment.
Financial Developed and integrated a financial services company which had recently acquired six additional companies resulting in presence in over forty states with annual revenues of $15M. This company had over four thousand agents and issued its own bonds. Many agents were cross linked among the companies. I integrated all of the companies and its accounting/management systems, linking QuickBooks with a twelve year old legacy system. The ten person accounting staff was trained and aligned for maximum efficiency. Additional work included developing a database, linking over 2000 excel and word files into one database to analyze old transactions from the previous six plus years.
Manufacturing Managed and developed an aerospace specialty manufacturer for over twelve years during which time the business doubled in the US and developed a joint venture manufacturing operation in Turkey with a Tier One Defense company. During this time, accounting systems were upgraded twice; the Turkish operation was managed from initial drafting of the proposal through funding, training, startup and operations.
Tax/Accounting Developed and managed a local CPA practice in Woodland Hills, CA providing tax, accounting and business advice to small and medium sized businesses. Over 400 personal and business income taxes were prepared in the last tax season. Bookkeeping and accounting services provided for over 50 companies quarterly. Outsourced controllership work and systems design and implementation as provided a third leg to the business.
